9 day Classical Greece Tour , Meteora , Ioannina and Metsovo

Saturday: Athens- arrival in Athens

On the day of arrival you will have free time to familiarize yourself with the city, depending on the time of your flight.Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Sunday: Athens – Guided city tour , Cape Sounio

In the morning meet your guide for the Athens city tour. The tour allows in an engaging tour of the center to see Sydagma (Constitution) Square, the Parliament, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, the National Library and along the street named after Herodes Atticus: the Euzons, the Presidential Palace, the Panathinaiko Stadium and in the direction of the Acropolis: Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Jupiter. Following visit to the Acropolis with masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens and the National Archaeological Museum. Stop for lunch ( free lunch )The tour continues in the afternoon driving along the coastal road and through the beautiful beaches of Glifada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza , we will reach the southernmost area of Αttica: Cape Sounio, where the Temple of Poseidon is located, boasting one of the most spectacular views of the Aegean Sea. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Monday : Athens, Corinth Canal , Epidaurus , Nafplio, Mycenae, Olympia

Depart in the morning for the Corinth Canal (short photo stop). Followed by visit to Epidaurus Theater, a theater with perfect acoustics. At the end of the visit departure for the city of Nafplio, famous for the Fortress of the Palamides (short photo stop) and on to Mycenae and visit to the Tomb of Agamemnon and the Archaeological Site. Time for lunch ( free lunch ) at Mycenae. After lunch departure for Olympia, cradle of the Olympic Games. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Tuesday : Olympia , Arachova

In the morning visit to the Archaeological Site with the Sanctuary of Zeus Olympio, the ‘ancient stadium and the Archaeological Museum . At the end of the visit departure for Arachova passing over the wonderful bridge that crosses the Corinthian Bay and connects Rio and Antirio and passing through the picturesque town of Nafpactos (Lepanto) . Stop and free time for lunch ( free lunch ) along the way . In the evening arrive at the picturesque village of Arachova, built there on the slope of Mount Parnassos and known for its handicrafts of carpets and colorful quilts. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Wednesday : Delphi , Thermopile , Meteora

Morning arrival in Delphi, visit to the Archaeological Site with the Treasury of the Athenians, Temple of Apollo and Museum. Afterwards time for lunch in Delphi. At the end of lunch( free lunch )departure for Meteors and brief stop along the way at Thermopylae and the Monument of Leonidas. Arrival in Kalambaka small town that spreads out below the amazing Meteora complex. Dinner and overnight stay in Kalambaka.

Thursday : Kalambaka, Meteora, Ioannina.
Visit to the Meteora (2 monasteries). In a unique setting, on top of huge rocks and as if suspended between the earth and the sky, stand the famous Ageless Monasteries considered unique examples of Byzantine art that hold great historical and religious treasures inside. After stopping for lunch ( free lunch ) in Kalambaka departure for the lands of ancient Epirus , a kingdom as famous and important in classical times as its King Pyrrhus. Arrival in Ioannina late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in Ioannina.

Note:For the visit to the Monasteries and ‘required as clothing, half-sleeved shirt and knee-length skirt for ladies and long pants for gentlemen.

Thursday : Ioannina , Metsovo , Kalambaka , Athens

In the morning do a short walk in the city visiting the old town and board the boat that goes to the ‘island of Lake Pamvotida. Depart for Metsovo a quaint mountain village from which there is a beautiful view. Free lunch in Metsovo and return to Kalambaka. Dinner and overnight stay in Kalambaka.

Saturday : Kalambaka , Trikala , Athens.

Depart for a visit to the natural history museum museum in the town of Kalambaka and a local winery. Continue to the town of Trikala and stop for lunch ( free lunch ). Return to Athens via the town of Larisa. Arrival in Athens. Dinner and overnight stay in Athens.
Knee-length for ladies and long pants for gentlemen.

Sunday : Athens – Departure for Italy.

On the day of departure you will have free time at your disposal, depending on your flight schedule, to enjoy some more of the city.
