Visit Delphi, the center of the ancient world, the “Omphalos” (“Naval of the earth”) whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic Universe and the Meteora monasteries, perched atop soaring cliffs, gigantic rocks which have been etched by time into a variety of shapes rooted deeply in the ground yet complitely isolated from the world around them.
Wednesday : Athens, Delphi , Thermopile , Meteora
Depart for Delphi by driving along the national highway and passing through the picturesque village of Arachova, built downstream from Mount Parnassus and known for its handicrafts of carpets and colorful quilts.Arrival in Delphi visit to the Archaeological Site with the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum.Following free lunch and departure for Kalambaka, a small town that spreads downstream from the amazing Meteors complex. Dinner and overnight stay.
Thursday : Meteora , Athens
Visit the Meteors in a unique setting, on top of huge granite rocks, as if suspended in the sky, stand unique specimens of Byzantine art: the ageless Meteora Monasteries, which preserve fantastic historical and religious treasures inside. After free lunch in Kalambaka return to Athens and brief stop at Thermopylae and the Monument of Leonidas. Arrival in Athens in the afternoon.
Note:
For the visit to the Monasteries is required as clothing, half-sleeved T-shirt and knee-length skirt for ladies and long pants for gentlemen.
